Optuitions was founded in 2013 and is lead by Dr Navneet Gupta. Our primary aim is to offer training courses to eye care professionals in order to develop your skills and make you a better practitioner. We offer courses that are primarily aimed at pre-registration optometrists but also refraction skills for refraction certificate examinations. We can also offer bespoke courses tailored to your specific needs and we welcome enquiries to see if we might be able to help, subject to our remit.
Navneet is an Independent Prescribing Optometrist with varied experience in optometric practices, ranging from independents, High Street multiple chains, refractive surgery consultations, and more recently in hospital clinics. He is experienced in assessor ability and understanding against General Optical Council (GOC) competencies and is vastly experienced in OSCE training for pre-registration optometrists and Minor Eye Conditions Schemes (MECS). He is an optometrist member of the GOC’s Education Visitor Panel, providing consultancy services for the accreditation of university optometry-related programmes. Prior to this Navneet was Clinical Editor for Optometry Today, the Journal of the Association of Optometrists, between 2008 and 2013.
Navneet likes to continue his own professional development, and since graduating in Optometry from Aston University with a First Class honours degree, he has completed a PhD investigating functional near vision assessment in presbyopia, from Aston University, and he has achieved the College of Optometrist’s Diploma in Independent Therapeutic Prescribing. Currently he is working towards specialist qualifications in glaucoma.
Outside of work, Navneet has a keen interest in sports, mainly football, cricket and swimming, travelling and he has a particular penchant for bhangra music!
